Our little onion has sprouted!
The Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for Layers Deep, the anticipated cozy 2D Metroidvania developed by Josh Chambers and Eric Kalpin, draws to a close amidst joy, excitement, and a touch of emotion.
The past month has been extremely intensive and demanding but also highly rewarding for the team at Tall Order Games. They worked tirelessly on multiple fronts, hoping players would appreciate the vision behind the project. Their efforts paid off, as evidenced by the campaign’s impressive results: 161% funded with $48,317 USD (approximately €44,780) on a funding goal of $30,000 USD (approximately €27,892) from a total of 1,376 backers.
These excellent numbers reflect the significant impact the project had on players. However, this isn’t the only achievement the developers are celebrating. In addition to reaching the funding goal, they also smashed several important stretch goals, including the addition of a Boss Rush mode (set at $35,000 USD) and, crowning the success of this campaign, the confirmation that The Blasting Company, composers for Over the Garden Wall, will compose the entire soundtrack for Layers Deep (the goal for this was set at $40,000 USD).
Here are some statements from Josh Chambers, pleased with the campaign’s outcome: “This has been a wild ride, and it’s only the first stop! Thank you all so much for your support; we are absolutely floored! There’s still a lot of post-Kickstarter work to be done.”
What comes next? As Josh highlights, the developers’ immediate focus will be fulfilling the rewards for backers across the various pledge tiers chosen to support the campaign. Furthermore, if you didn’t have enough time to support the Kickstarter project but still want to access some of the campaign’s rewards, there’s no need to worry—you still have a chance to do so. Soon, the developers will launch a Shopify page where official merchandise will be available. For further updates, we recommend keeping an eye on Josh Chambers’ X account.

We conclude by extending our heartfelt congratulations to Tall Order Games for their remarkable achievement, and we sincerely thank all of you for following us this far. Until next time!
