On the evening of March 9, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach returned with a new gameplay trailer, entirely edited by Hideo Kojima. Just like the first Death Stranding, the trailer turned out to be complex and packed with hidden details. In true Kojima style, unexpected surprises weren’t missing, including the mysterious “replacement” for Mads Mikkelsen’s character and some WTF moments that will only make sense while playing.
The Evolution of Death Stranding 2
Kojima has always stated that Death Stranding needed a sequel to complete the story that began in the first game. The information revealed in this trailer suggests that many unanswered questions will finally find their resolution. Compared to its predecessor, Death Stranding 2 feels even more expansive. The variety of environments stands out, ranging from deserts and mountains to forests and rocky valleys, further expanding the game world. The storyline seems even more intricate, diving deeper into the past of both returning and new key characters. Every aspect of the game promises something exciting.
Enhanced and Expanded Gameplay Experience
Kojima has always delivered sequels that introduce major evolutions. The Metal Gear Solid saga stands as the perfect example. Death Stranding 2: On The Beach remains a game focused on deliveries, with a slow-paced and strategic approach. Sam’s load management follows the same structure as the first game, requiring careful weight distribution on his suit and the organization of various gear and vehicles.

- More refined combat, with human and BT enemies that act in more diverse and unpredictable ways.
One of the most exciting additions is the dynamic weather and environmental changes, which can completely alter gameplay situations. The trailer showcased:

It remains unclear whether the trailer’s final sequence, where Heartman takes control of a BT using the Magellan ship in Evangelion style, is a playable moment. If so, it could rival the epic battle against the Metal Gear Rays in MGS2.
New Cast Members
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach expands its cast with new characters, including:
- Lucy plays a crucial role, not only due to her past with Sam but also because she is Lou’s mother.
- Neil, portrayed by the talented Italian actor Luca Marinelli, takes over the iconic role previously filled by Cliff Unger. Kojima has expressed great admiration for Marinelli, even seeing him as a potential Solid Snake in a future Metal Gear Solid film.

- The latest trailer also marks the return of Tomorrow, now with significant new abilities, including enhanced control over tar.
