Ready to discover pleasures beyond human comprehension?

Saber Interactive brings Hellraiser back to life, building on the success of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 (our review here) and teaming up with Boss Team Games, the studio behind the underwhelming Evil Dead: The Game. Hellraiser Revival is unleashed.

This new project marks an ambitious and risky relaunch—a video game dedicated to the Hellraiser universe.

The Story of the New Hellraiser

As always, the puzzle box lies at the heart of the narrative.

The trailer reveals a couple deeply involved in BDSM. Eager to push their limits, they encounter a new box called the Genesis Configuration.

The protagonist’s partner solves the puzzle and summons the Cenobites—twisted, mutilated beings with demonic powers who promise unimaginable pleasures while subjecting their victims to horrific torture within the Labyrinth of Leviathan, already known from earlier films.

The game doesn’t explain yet how Aidan, the main character, escapes the Cenobites—or whether he strikes a deal with Pinhead, just as Kirsty did in the first movie.

The story takes him through a series of underground locations, including a club inspired by an iconic scene from the third film, eerie environments, and even the Labyrinth itself, as shown in the trailer.

In true Hellraiser fashion, nothing ever goes as expected, and happy endings rarely happen. A wild and surreal conclusion, similar to Hellbound: Hellraiser II, would perfectly suit this new chapter.

The Gameplay of Hellraiser

Saber chose a survival horror action formula to reflect the visceral nature of Hellraiser.

Players fight against multiple types of Cenobites, a cult devoted to Pinhead, and a range of hellish creatures.

Combat feels physical and brutal. With various melee weapons and firearms, players push their way through the dark world of Hellraiser while uncovering disturbing secrets.

A Major Comeback

Clive Barker returns to gaming after the flawed but intriguing Jericho.

The game also brings back another familiar face: Doug Bradley.

He reprises his iconic role as Pinhead, delivering the chilling presence that turned the character into a horror legend.

What We Expect from the New Hellraiser

The return of Hellraiser brings sadistic, artistic, and brutal horror back into the spotlight—a welcome change in a genre clogged with cheap jump scares and half-hearted attempts at mature storytelling.

This is the perfect moment for Hellraiser to reclaim its legacy and rise to the level of the original films.

The franchise’s graphic and symbolic violence might clash with modern sensitivities, but giving Hellraiser a chance could spark a wave of bold, visionary horror projects.
