In short
More animals, new habitats and a mission that reaches far beyond the zoo. Planet Zoo 2 builds on its predecessor with over 130 species, aquatic and flying wildlife, expanded construction tools and global conservation projects. Here’s everything you need to know about Frontier Developments’ latest management simulation.
Released on 13 October 2026, Planet Zoo 2 is the long-awaited sequel to the beloved zoo management simulator developed by Frontier Developments. The game, published by Frontier Developments, is available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at the recommended price of €49.99 for the Standard Edition and €64.99 for the Deluxe Edition.
With over 130 animal species, fully customisable aquariums and aviaries, and, for the first time in the series, aquatic and flying species, Planet Zoo 2 positions itself as the genre’s most ambitious generational leap.
A More Authentic Wildlife Experience
From high-fidelity fur, feathers and scales to authentic animal behaviours, Planet Zoo 2 delivers the most accurate naturalistic representation ever seen in the series.
The Frontier Developments development team has cast players as the new Conservation Coordinator of the FEN (Fauna and Ecosystems Network), challenging them to meet the unique needs of every species by building habitats and exhibits inspired by natural environments.
Major new additions are the freely customisable aquariums and aviaries, which open up unexplored territory in the care of fish and birds, while the celebrated piece-by-piece construction tools, the powerful terrain tools and the Frontier Workshop give aspiring zookeepers everything they need to bring their ideas to life.

Conservation on a Global Scale
The heart of the game is safeguarding nature on a global scale: players will take part in projects around the world to bring Wildlife Reserves back to life, caring for the animals and releasing them into thriving ecosystems.
Through the Career, Franchise and Sandbox modes it is possible to build a global network of zoos and reserves, trade animals with other players and collaborate on community goals.
Providing the backdrop is the new Planet Hub, which offers a central view of your conservation network, while the first-person camera lets you literally walk through your own creations and those shared by the community.

Conclusions
Planet Zoo 2 really does seem like the chapter fans have been waiting for: more animals, more creative freedom and a noble cause that gives meaning to every enclosure built.
All that’s left is to roll up our sleeves: Planet Zoo 2 is available now on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. You can buy it from the official website or on Steam.
