A brutal, hand-drawn pixel-art dark-fantasy soulslike drawing from the legends and history of Korea’s Silla Dynasty (57 BC-AD 935).

On Thursday, September 25, Korean developer Guild Studio unveiled its latest project: NAMMO – a brutal, hand-drawn 2D action game that merges a dark fantasy world with a relentless, Soulslike boss-rush experience.
Set during Korea’s Silla Dynasty (57 BC-AD 935), amid the turmoil of the “Three Kingdoms” era, the game chronicles the tragic tale of Nammo, the young heroine who lends the game its name – a girl who, struck by a cruel twist of fate, loses the two things she holds most dear: her closest friend, Junjeong, whom she loved as a sister, and her very sight.
What is NAMMO: Narrative, Gameplay, and Key Features of Guild Studio’s Upcoming IP
As previously noted – and as outlined by Guild Studio on the game’s official Steam page – NAMMO is a dark-fantasy Soulslike set in an ancient Korean kingdom. The story follows Nammo, a young girl raised under the warm and loving care of Junjeong, a friend she cherished as a sister. Beloved by their people and flourishing like flowers in full bloom, their lives seemed destined for happiness – until fate turned cruel beneath the moonlight. The one Nammo trusted most betrayed her, delivering a merciless blow to her eyes. Blinded and forsaken, she was left to endure a harsh and unforgiving world alone, without guidance, and abandoned by the person she loved above all.
Yet even in tragedy, opportunity can arise. While Junjeong’s betrayal stole one of Nammo’s greatest gifts, it was precisely that treacherous blow that awakened her true power: the “Eyes of Spirit,” the game’s most distinctive feature. Central to both the narrative and the gameplay, this ability allows Nammo to enter the Spirit Realm, exposing hidden weaknesses in enemies, revealing pathways invisible in the physical world, and absorbing the souls of fallen foes to wield their powers as her own. This mechanic grants players the freedom to forge a deeply personal playstyle, blending strategy, combat, and exploration in a way that makes every encounter uniquely their own.

When and on Which Platforms Will NAMMO Be Available?
For now, the limited information released by Guild Studio, along with the few details revealed in the announcement trailer, makes it difficult to get a full sense of what to expect from NAMMO. That said, what’s been shown so far is promising and gives plenty of reason to be optimistic about the project’s future.
NAMMO is set to launch soon on PC via Steam, with no console versions announced yet. To stay up to date on the game’s development and latest news, follow the official NAMMO X account and Guild Studio’s Instagram so you don’t miss any upcoming updates.
That’s all for now. Stay tuned for more updates.
