Stylish. Relentless. Ferocious. Redline ignites the screen, turning the battlefield into a brutal canvas of blood in SPINE’s brand-new trailer.

On Thursday, April 17th, as part of the Twitch Galaxies showcase, Limassol-based developer and publisher Nekki revealed a new trailer for SPINE, their cinematic Gun Fu action game. The trailer, centered around the game’s signature Freeflow Gun Fu combat system, also confirmed that SPINE is not only coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S—but will now also target the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

The explosive, one-minute trailer features never-before-seen footage, spotlighting dazzling new environments and intense action sequences. At its heart is Redline, the game’s stylish and fierce protagonist, who weaves her way through relentless waves of enemies, dances through hails of bullets, and executes some of the game’s most spectacular—and brutal—finishers, offering a glimpse of the visceral combat awaiting players.

But this is only a taste of what the trailer has to offer. So, without further ado, let’s break down everything that was revealed in this thrilling new showcase.

Redline doesn’t just fight. She performs—turning disarms, counters, and finishers into a brutal work of art

Once again, the spotlight falls on Redline, the fearless graffiti artist at the core of SPINE. True to her artistic soul, Redline does not approach combat as a mere task, but as a medium of self-expression. For her, every battle is a blank canvas, every strike a brushstroke, and each movement an intricate line drawn in the heat of the moment. She doesn’t just fight—she paints the battlefield, blending her art with her body’s fluid motion, creating something beautiful from chaos.

The trailer gives us a thrilling glimpse into Redline’s signature combat style: Freeflow Gun Fu. This fluid and dynamic form of fighting allows her to transition seamlessly from one enemy to the next, disarming, parrying, and turning their weapons against them with unmatched precision. The result is a fast-paced, captivating sequence of movements that feels like a choreographed performance, each action effortlessly flowing into the next.

What’s perhaps most captivating is Redline’s ability to transform her environment into an extension of her fighting style. She dynamically engages with the world around her, transforming walls, ledges, and improvised weapons into instruments of both offense and defense. Enemies are slammed against surfaces, hurled from heights, or eliminated with whatever makeshift weapon is at her disposal—creating unpredictable, cinematic sequences where no two encounters are ever quite the same.

Game Director Dmitry Pimenov reveals Nekki’s vision for SPINE’s combat: empowering players to become both the star and the director of their own action movie

To give us a clearer understanding of the philosophy behind SPINE’s Freeflow Gun Fu combat system—and the cinematic edge the team aims to bring to each encounter—Game Director Dmitry Pimenov himself shared his vision for the experience Nekki seeks to create, along with the level of agency, freedom, and visceral feel they want players to have at their fingertips.

“Freeflow Gun Fu combat means constant tactical awareness—both of your enemies and of the environment you’re fighting in,” Pimenov explained.

A key element of this system lies in what could be considered Redline’s co-star: Spine, the biomechanical combat implant embedded in her body. This advanced AI guides her throughout her journey of vengeance and redemption, providing timely, strategic feedback and real-time combat directives—alerting her when to dodge, parry, or counter at precisely the right moment. Players will receive these cues through an intuitive visual interface: a “spider-sense”-style icon that shifts from white to red, warning of imminent danger and granting a brief window to react before the blow lands.

Pimenov went on to explain how Nekki aims to deliver a richly cinematic combat experience while empowering players with full control:

“For us, everything comes back to that cinematic experience, while always giving players complete control. We want to make players feel like both the star and the director of their own action movie—rewarding them with opportunities for creative takedowns by mastering the combo system and the environment, and showcasing their combos with dynamic camera angles to immerse them in the action.”

If standard mode feels like a stroll, Hardcore will feel like war

Think Redline’s enemies are starting to feel like cannon fodder? Craving something that’ll truly test your skills—and your patience? Then keep an eye out for the Hardcore Mode teased at the trailer’s end.

It’s brutal. It’s punishing. One slip, and it’s game over. You’ll face wave after wave of relentless enemies, and you’ll need to come out clean—zero hits. Redline will be rocking her slick sunglasses the whole time, but if you mess up? Say goodbye to those shades. Cracks, scratches, the works. And let’s face it—nobody wants to be the reason Redline loses her style.
