INMOST Composer Alexey Nechaev has been hospitalized after a severe heart attack, a fundraise has been launched to help with his recovery.

Alexey Nechaev, the talented composer who worked on the soundtrack for the game INMOST in 2019, was recently hospitalized due to a severe heart attack.

The young musician, only 29 years old, is currently unable to return to work due to his health condition. After being reanimated, Nechaev was diagnosed with a heart defect, further complicating his recovery. Before his hospitalization, Nechaev was working on four projects simultaneously, demonstrating such commitment that his first concern, even after resuscitation, was to complete his work rather than focus on his health.

To support Nechaev during his recovery, Hidden Layer Games and Chucklefish have announced a special fundraising campaign.
From August 29th to September 12th, 100% of the proceeds from INMOST sales on Steam will be donated to charity. INMOST Composer Alexey Nechaev’s health situation has deeply impacted the community, prompting this initiative.

50% of the funds raised will go directly to Nechaev and his family, while the other half will be donated to a heart health association.

During this period, INMOST will be available at a 70% discount. Additionally, they encourage their fans to purchase the game’s soundtrack, from which Nechaev receives 100% of the profits. Supporting the INMOST Composer Alexey Nechaev during these challenging times is crucial for his recovery.

Chucklefish also took the opportunity to emphasize the importance of physical and mental well-being in the gaming industry.

The studio reaffirmed its commitment to a “zero crunch” policy and a four-day workweek, highlighting how these changes have helped create a healthier and more sustainable work environment.

By sharing Nechaev’s story, Chucklefish hopes to raise awareness in the gaming industry about the importance of adopting practices that prevent burnout and promote the health and well-being of workers.

This dedication ensures that the efforts to support INMOST Composer Alexey Nechaev are also a step toward industry-wide change.

Hidden Layer Games and Chucklefish invite the community to join in supporting Alexey Nechaev and to promote a healthier, more sustainable work culture in the gaming industry, especially given his recent health challenges.

A quick look at developer’s health:

Many developers work with minimal social security systems, even up to 16 hours a day without getting away from the screen, as Stefano Guglielmana mentioned during interviews about Cookie Cutter (Here is also the one from creator Emalloru, who provides further video testimony of how complex yet satisfying the video game world can be).

This type of work is challenging both mentally and physically, but also socially. Developers often find themselves isolated due to their work constraints, which are entirely different from the classic office hours.

Moreover, since there are often numerous updates in platforms, operating systems, and gamification, continuous learning is crucial, sometimes even taking up the workers’ free time.

We hope that this sector will receive greater recognition in the future, to help our game developers bring us more engaging and functional content!
