An Introduction to Shosha Games, the Creators of Water Me & You
Based in Belgrade, the capital and largest city of Serbia, renowned for its iconic Beogradska Tvrđava, the picturesque Kneza Mihaila Street, and the stunning Kalemegdan Park perched atop a hill overlooking the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, Shosha Games is a young, small, and talented seven-person video game company. Their mission? To craft, share, and inspire through extraordinary adventures.
The studio’s dedicated team consists of Nikola Šoškić (Team Lead and Game Designer), Anastasija Redžić (Marketing Manager and Composer), Rastko Novković (UI/UX Artist and Concept Artist), Aleksa Jeremić (Producer and SFX Designer), Aleksa Janković (3D Artist and VFX Artist), and Nikola Praskić (3D Artist and Narrative Designer). Although officially founded in early 2022, the origins of Shosha Games trace back several years, to a shared dream nurtured long before the company’s inception.
As shared on their official website, the team “grew up together creating their own worlds, making movies, designing card games, composing music, and diving deep into the burgeoning world of video games that captivated them during their youth.”
It wasn’t long before they recognized that video games provided the ultimate canvas to combine their diverse passions and realize their collective vision — to create experiences that inspire change. And thus, Shosha Games came to life.
A captivating creative vision rooted in innovation, differentiation, and a steadfast commitment to crafting high-quality, original IPs that captivate and inspire players—these are the core principles upon which Shosha Games was founded. This ambitious philosophy continues to guide the studio’s mission, shaping the development of its distinctive and imaginative projects.
Following the March 2024 release of The Legend of Jaffa Brownie, their debut mobile title, the studio is actively working on multiple projects. Alongside Water Me & You, the game we are focusing on today, they are developing Water Me – Origins. This intriguing prequel serves as a standalone story, delving into the origins of the water droplet being—one of the central characters and co-protagonists of Water Me & You—while offering a deeper exploration of its post-apocalyptic world.
A poignant and tender tale that subtly tackles urgent real-world issues, focusing on the collapse of ecosystems and the human impact on the environment
While not the only key feature, the narrative undoubtedly stands as one of the game’s greatest strengths. Beneath its deceptively simple and tender exterior, it confronts sensitive yet deeply relevant issues facing the modern world, such as environmental crises and the consequences of human activity on Earth.
The following serves as the prologue to the game’s narrative, plunging players into a post-apocalyptic world—a story that challenges them not merely to explore, but to actively seek transformation, despite the constraints of their limited resources: a polluted planet, long after humanity’s extinction, where hope is but a faint memory, and nature continues its relentless struggle for survival.
It is within this world that we meet the species to which we belong: a civilization of small woodling creatures, each struggling in its own way to survive. This battle, seemingly hopeless, shapes the destiny of this fragile society—devastated and deprived of clean water, ravaged by a corruption that spreads unchecked, with their Mother Tree on the verge of death. Yet, in a final, desperate act, the Tree channels its remaining energy to produce a single seedling and a solitary drop of pure water. It is now their responsibility to summon the rain once more and restore life to their dying world.
This is where the player steps in—or more precisely, where two players join forces—taking on the roles of a water droplet and a seed-like creature. These unique beings possess extraordinary abilities, including the power to shift between different states, and must work together to navigate challenges and undertake the monumental task of revitalizing a world left behind by humanity.
As the developers thoughtfully explain on the game’s Steam page, this fictional world reflects a highly plausible scenario—one that may not be as far-fetched as it seems—where humanity has disappeared due to the lack of clean water. “By playing our game we want you, the player, to be a part of that world and participate in improving in hopes of connecting you with a current, real-world problem, raising further awareness and perhaps taking a small step in this marathon that we are running together.”
An exhilarating collection of fun and challenging adventures for two players, with a strong focus on cooperation and teamwork
At this stage of development, information remains limited, making it difficult to fully outline the core concept, as well as the structure of the gameplay mechanics and some of the key design choices related to game and level design made by the studio. However, one thing that is immediately clear from the early impressions is that the experience will be built around two fundamental pillars, central to co-op video games: cooperation and teamwork.
The game will place a strong emphasis on platforming and puzzle-solving, which will be key drivers of the gameplay. However, exploration will also play a pivotal role, not only in discovering new biomes, immersing players in its captivating lore, and saving the planet from extinction, but also in gathering resources to rebuild, customize, and upgrade your village, while caring for the creatures you rescue along the way.
As the developers recommend, take your time and don’t rush to save the world—at least not before you’ve dedicated some time to beautifying your village, slowing down the pace of the adventure, and allowing your two little creatures a much-needed break.
First Impressions, Release Window, and Platforms
Early impressions of the game are undeniably positive, based on what we’ve seen so far, particularly in terms of the proposed concept, as well as the style and structure of the gameplay. While it does share some similarities with titles like Sackboy: A Big Adventure and It Takes Two, the game undoubtedly maintains its own distinct identity and personality, both within its world and its narrative. For this reason, we are eager to learn more and see how Shosha Games will bring this adventure to life.
As for the release, a specific launch date has not yet been confirmed; however, the developers have set a target window for Q4 2025. Barring any unforeseen complications during development, they plan to stick to this schedule.
The game will be available on PC via Steam, though the developers have not ruled out the possibility of a future console release. This decision, like others, will largely depend on the feedback they receive from players regarding their new IP.
